🌘 My Thoughts
Bride of the Shadow King swept me into a world of shimmering shadows, royal duty, and an arranged marriage with more heart than I expected. What really pulled me in wasn’t just the romance (though, yes, swoon), but Faraine — the heroine herself.

I don’t usually connect so deeply with the female lead, but Faraine? She’s something special. Grounded, thoughtful, and resilient, she navigates a world full of danger and deception with a quiet strength that completely won me over.

The romance is beautifully paced — low spice but rich with emotional tension. Faraine and King Vor have this slow-burn connection that builds with mutual respect and guarded vulnerability. And Vor? Not morally gray at all — he’s actually honorable, loyal, and deeply devoted to his people. A refreshing twist on the “shadow king” trope, and I was so here for it.

Faraine’s family, though? Whew. Her father and mother made me want to throw the book across the room. But then came Lydia — her half-sister — who I was absolutely convinced would be a villain. Instead? She became one of the most surprising and heartwarming parts of the story. Her quiet support hit me right in the feels.

If you’re looking for a romantasy full of court intrigue, a sweetly serious king, and a heroine worth cheering for, Bride of the Shadow King delivers, I’m giving it 5 stars! I already have book two queued up and ready to devour.
